Recently Mr. Rahul Gandhi visited Silicon Valley to address Indian’s there. He was exactly like what he has always been. But I was extremely surprised with the type of questions asked by the audience. The randomly chosen ones!! At least that’s what Mr. Gandhi and his party claims “Rahul Ji does unscripted and spontaneous interviews and interactions”. As a matter of fact they take a jibe at PM Modi for not following his style of interactions i.e. question and answer approach.
What comes to your mind when you hear about Silicon Valley? The Silicon Valley of the world!
Startups? Unicorns? Technological Disruptions? Infrastructure? Innovation? Entrepreneur? State of the Art developments? Growth? Rich? Super Rich? Wealth?
Does any of the above come to your mind when you hear Silicon Valley? They definitely are some aspects of Silicon Valley that come to my mind right away. And the very next question that would occupy my mind for a much longer time be “Why can’t India be like that? What’s stopping us?”
Not limited to just silicon valley, why can’t India have infrastructure like Germany or England? What did these countries do different then us? After world war II most of the Europe including England were left in rubble. Roughly 80% of Germany was left in debris after 1945. How did they rebuilt?
I thought most NRI’s like myself would think on these lines and would want to ask these questions to any politicians they would come across, who talks about building India in any way.
So, I was expecting Indians in Silicon Valley who witness exceptional things in their day to day life to frame their questions on these lines.
What did they ask?
Five different people “randomly” chosen from the audience asked their “own” questions which were as follows:
- Question 1, a lady belonging to a Women Empowerment Organization asked: What will congress do about Women’s reservation bill once it comes to power?
- Question 2, a gentleman representing Tamils who live in Bay area on the behalf of his people who believe in Science, reason and free thought asked: What are your thoughts on making Indian administrative structure like the US’ i.e. true united states on India? (The gentlemen gave a long description of federal structure of the US with each state having a distinct constitution and supreme court)
- Question 3, another gentleman asked: What is INC’s plan to fight fascism and uproot economic and social inequality which is causing this fascism?
- Question 4, a gentleman representing Silicon Valley Christian Community asked: What is your take on PM Modi’s idea of increasing the Lok Sabha seats, making minorities more vulnerable?
- Question 5, a gentleman representing Bay area Muslim Community asked: What hope are you giving Indian Muslims that things for Muslims will be the same as they were before Modi once you come back to power?
That is it! Five questions done! You could cross check with the interaction down below:
Women Empowerment, Tamil vs Hindi and Federalism in India, Muslim Appeasement, Fighting fascism, Minority rights, Dalits etc. are Indian National Congress’ election campaign mnemonics. Do the NRIs in the Silicon Valley think only about these things?
Not a single question about the state of startups in India? Status of innovation in India? Venture Capital policies? Bottlenecks for rapid infrastructure growth? I mean be it purely for criticism of Modi’s Startup India program or Make in India program but there has to be some forum where questions relevant to these be raised. I thought silicon valley was just the place to show Modi and his andh-bhakts how startups are incubated. But alas! nothing rises above caste, religion and region. And yet the very same people would have the audacity to take the moral high ground when it comes to caste/religion/region politics.
No wonder the western media that would have covered Mr. Gandhi’s interaction would believe and later the citizens of the US will believe that India and Indians are limited to caste, religion and region. That is all about India!
Audience laughing, giggling and enjoying when Mr. Gandhi downplays the new parliament house that was recently inaugurated. Why? They live in the US that modernized its parliament building several times even exploiting slave labor; its nice for them to have a state of the art structure for their parliament but when it comes to my country, what’s the need? Its just money wasted on beautification!
Why shouldn’t my country have one? As a matter of fact, if someone asks me I would argue why doesn’t the Sansad Bhavan have a massive dome like the capitol? (shown below).. Maybe the next time.

I can’t simply understand why every single time there is something built or proposed in India certain people start complaining. And I have problems with especially those NRIs who live in developed countries and know exactly how these developed countries work and grow. Bullet train? why does India need high speed trains? But its nice to have high speed trains in other countries though.
You should definitely read this one: Lets defeat India together!!
Rahul Gandhi can keep telling stories about his epic Bharat Jodo Yatra; the Yatra could have been enlightening for him as he claims; his party could have gained a lot of support as he claims; Congress could have built alliances as he claims; but at the end the yatra had nothing to offer to the nation and its citizens. Absolutely ZERO value add. It was purely a political exercise like an election rally.
If at all Congress was to offer anything constructive to win 2024, it would have showcased its work in states where it has been ruling for the last five years. For example Rajasthan, what was built in Rajasthan in last five years? How did the state GDP of the state grow?
But no, they ask for the data for caste based census so that they can politicize it. This group has this percentage so we can leverage it as a vote bank. That’s a simple math. The truth at the end is Rahul Gandhi and his party are now simply uniting people who don’t want India to come out of its third world image. He is uniting those who celebrate poverty and want the rest of the world to keep ridiculing Indians and India, he does it in India by various means including “Bharat Jodo” and he keeps trying it abroad by his various interactions.
